We are a small horn shop recently relocated in New Hampshire, United States and produce some of the finest instruments in the world for both professionals and amateurs. Lawson horns are the culmination of more than 50 years of professional horn playing and repair experience. Furthermore, their design embodies ideas from professional horn players throughout the world. Requisites of the highest quality French Horn, include a projecting, mellow, sonorous tone quality, excellent intonation, wide dynamic and scalar ranges, fast, accurate, non-corroding valves, solid construction and versatility. All of the above design features are skillfully incorporated into every hand-crafted Lawson horn. Besides mechanical construction and craftsmanship, the horn must excel at a number of musical attributes, namely: intonation, dynamic response and tone color. We are foremost in acoustic design of horns and have published many articles for the Acoustic Society of America, and the IHS Horn Call.

Please email or write us if you'd like copies of our easy to read articles on many practical aspects of playing the horn or for our technical library.

After over 50 years of service, we have sold the company to Kendall Betts, former first horn of the Minnesota Orchestra. He has assembed a team of very competent craftsmen who should be able to continue to serve our customers in the same courteous and knowlegeable manner we always have. Our NEW address is:

 In Memoriam, Walter Lawson, 1923 - 2007

It is with great sorrow, we mourn the passing of Walter Lawson who founded the company in 1952. He worked extremely hard for musicians from all over the world who stopped in his shop in Baltimore, then Boonsboro, MD. He taught everyone who worked for him to always 'give something a little extra' and 'never sacrifice quality'. Most who visited him became friends. We hope those who knew him will continue to pass along his good will, honesty and willingness to go beyond what is expected.
